Contentment: so valuable

When looking at lives around you, its so easy to see what others have that we do not.  It's easy to see those who have it better or easier than we do. Truth is: 1) We don't know the whole picture and they might not have it as "easy" or as good as it looks. 2)  For every person you can find you has more than you, there are just as many if not more who have much less than you. The lesson here is this: Be thankful for what you have and stop looking at what others have to measure your happiness or contentment. I have found that when I focus on what I have, I am content and thankful. It's when I start looking at others, that I become critical of what I have. Contentment is about perspective. When we focus on what we can be thankful for, we can't help but feel contentment and peace.

Home Free: VocalBand. Why you should check them out

this is me, the day their cd arrived I write this fresh from taking my kids to their first ever concert.  We went to see Home Free. "Who's Home Free?"  If this is the question on your mind, you join a few others who wondered why I would "embarrass myself" over getting excited at "spotting" some of the band members out and about before the concert.  "Why would you get giddy over people who still are virtually unknown?" someone asked after I posted how excited I was to see Austin and holler at him out my car window. If you wonder why on earth, I would drive over 1 1/2 hours to see them on a Tuesday night when the kids and I wouldn't get home until after midnight, let me enlighten you as to why Home Free is band to get giddy about! Home Free is a vocal band.  Every sound you hear is made with a voice and a mic. That's it. Have you ever gone to a concert and thought "Man!  They must REALLY edit their cd's or

11 Staples for Your Rural Kitchen

There are some things that I ALWAYS keep in my pantry.  I had assumed most everyone did this, especially those who live in areas like I do (rural). The other day, someone told me she didn't have chicken broth on hand. Hold the phone!  You're telling me you don't keep at LEAST 2 one hand AT ALL TIMES?!?!?!?! I was baffled.. So I got to thinking... maybe I AM a little weird.  I tend to be a planner and I think logically.  If there is a more efficient way to do something, I"ll do it that way.  If there is a way to be a little better prepared... Im SO there! So here is a list of things I add to my grocery list when they get down to one package/can/box. 1)Broth (Vegetable, Chicken and Beef.) Why?  The list of things you can use these for is endless but here are a few basics, soups, stews, rice dishes, marinades etc etc.  You can use broth for a multitude of things. 2) Rice/Pasta/Beans Seriously who DOESNT keep at least one package of these around at all

This is for those who doubted

When I started this journey with my business, there were many who thought it would be a great "outlet" for me, a little extra income etc., but doubted I would go anywhere with it, and to those, I write this: When I started out saying I would reach a specific goal in less than 5 years, you laughed. When I said I would build a team of several, you mocked. When I said I would earn extra incentives and promotions, you said "that'll be the day!" Well guess what..... I did it!   All of it! I have hopes.  I have dreams. I have big goals. It might not happen as fast as I would like. It might not go the way I anticipate. But I will not stop until I reach the goals I have set. You can doubt.  You can laugh... But you just spur me on to PROVE YOU WRONG! There was a time when the doubt and laughs caused me to become discouraged and doubtful of myself, but now, I just have an extra motive to succeed! I have hopes. I have dreams. I have big goals.
